UPDATE 12:55 p.m.: Metro-North reported delays were easing and trains were returning to on-time service. Stay tuned for the afternoon rush hour.
ORIGINAL STORY: Delays were being reported most of Friday morning for commuters in both directions on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, as well as the on its Danbury and New Canaan branches.
Trains were running 20 to 40 minutes late in both directions because of multiple switch failures caused by the cold weather.
A drawbridge problem in Norwalk was fixed just before 8 a.m., but instead of delays easing, they got even longer.
