The Story of Your Local News Site Told on SiriusXM

What’s it like to start a local-news company and a new career? Jane Bryant Quinn, co-founder of this news site and 51 others, will be talking about it this weekend on SiriusXM radio, with Jean Chatzky of the Today Show and legendary gossip columnist Liz Smith.

Quinn, a long-time personal finance columnist and author, got interested in local news in 2009, when her hometown newspaper went out of business. “Suddenly, we had no information about what was going on, in politics, local development, schools or anything else,” she says. “Nothing is more important to a community than the quality of its shared information. I wanted to be part of it.”

Quinn’s husband, Carll Tucker, is Editor, Publisher and CEO of the company, called Main Street Connect, with sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Quinn is the Editorial Director. She calls what she’s doing now, “the most interesting chapter in my life.”

The radio interview will run six times on channel 107, created for SiriusXM by WowOWow, Women on the Web. Tune in on Saturday, August 5, at 8 or 9 a.m. and 6 or 7 p.m., or on Sunday, August 6, at 9 or 10 p.m.
