NORWALK, Conn. A single-car rollover Sunday morning on the Yankee Doodle Bridge on Interstate 95 sent three people to Norwalk Hospital and spilled a small amount of engine fluids over the Norwalk River, Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris King said. He did not know the condition of the car's occupants, but the fluids were contained by firefighters before they fell into the river below.
The 2010 Ford Explorer Hybrid was traveling north on I-95 when the driver lost control and rolled on its side at 7:23 a.m., King said. The Explorer's occupants were out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived and were treated by paramedics.
Connecticut State Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 8:20 a.m. to provide assistance to the state police until the vehicle was righted and towed off the highway. One engine as well as a rescue and command car responded to the scene.
