Strong Winds, Coastal Flooding Coming To Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Coastal flooding, strong winds and snow are forecast for Wednesday and Thursday in Fairfield County.

The National Weather Service is predicting that a mix of snow and rain will hit the county with sustained winds of up to 25 mph and possible gusts of 40 mph. The wind and wintry mix is predicted to continue through Thursday evening.

According to the forecast, little to no snow accumulation is expected for the area.

But the weather service has issued a high wind warning with potential gusts of up to 60 mph and coastal flooding with breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet.

Temperatures are likely to be highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.

Residents without power are advised to find warm shelter and are warned that the strong winds could bring down trees and wires weakened by Hurricane Sandy.
