Many travelers have found themselves stuck in Fairfield County because of the delays and cancellations caused by the snowy, windy weather in the past few days. Natasha Palmroth of Boston was in the middle of her trip home from her parent's home in Pennsylvania when she learned her Amtrak train had been delayed in Stamford. Palmroth, hoping to get home soon, tried to remain positive when she learned her 6:30 p.m. train Monday would be at least 45 minutes late.
"It's not so bad yet, but we'll see what time my train gets here," Palmroth said at 6 p.m. as she waited for her train.
Before finding out her train was late Palmroth's day of travel had gone smoothly. She said the roads were good when her mother drove her to the Stamford Transportation Center and said having the week off helped in keeping her spirits high.
Tina DiCarlo was not as upbeat as Palmroth when she learned it would be another two days before she would be able to fly home to London. It's been a tough trip: Adding to her frustration was that this was the second snowstorm she had been forced to deal with in her holiday travel, leaving London just before a storm hit the United Kingdom.
"I escaped the first storm, but I couldn't escape the second," DiCarlo said as she booked a flight home for London.
DiCarlo, also at the Stamford Transportation Center, was visiting family in Huntington, N.Y., for the holidays when the storm hit Sunday afternoon. Though DiCarlo is bummed about the delays, she is looking forward to spending more time with her nephew.
