The states transportation system is essential to commuters and business owners in order to stay in Connecticut, says state Rep. Gail Lavielle, R-143rd District. The legislator, who represents part of Norwalk and Wilton, shared her opinions with the Connecticut Association for Community Transportation at a breakfast last week.
At a time when bringing jobs back to Connecticut is our highest priority, it is imperative to ensure that everyone has a reliable way to get to and from work, Lavielle said in a statement. She specifically mentioned making sure that trains run frequently and efficiently, effective bus service is provided and connections are offered between trains and buses.
To make sure this happens, Lavielle believes money designated for transportation should be used that way and not be transferred to the states General Fund. The money for improvements should be used in areas with much economic activity such as Fairfield County to help the area grow and evolve, Lavielle said.
Lavielle serves on the Transportation Committee in the General Assembly.
