WILTON, Conn. The editor of The Advocate newspaper in Stamford and Greenwich Time was charged with driving under the influence early Saturday, according to a story posted on the newspapers websites.
David McCumber, 59, is the editorial director of the Hearst Connecticut Media Group. He lives in Wilton. According to the report on The Advocate site, McCumber was pulled over on Seeley Road at 1:30 a.m. and also was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane. McCumber provided details of the incident. The Wilton Police Department offices are not open on weekends.
McCumber is due in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Oct. 4, the article said.
McCumber joined the Connecticut newspapers in April 2009. He came to Fairfield County after working at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, another Hearst enterprise. The Seattle paper switched to an online edition only in the final months of McCumbers leadership before Hearst sent him to Connecticut.
