St. Mary's CEO Praises Dan DeBarba

Norwalk Hospital may have picked the perfect time to appoint Daniel DeBarba as president and CEO, says Chad Wable, president and CEO of St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.

"The next few years there are going to be a lot more challenges for hospitals," says Wable, who worked alongside with DeBarba as the Vice President of Strategy Development and System Operations at St. Mary's (at the time, DeBarba was that hospital's Chief Financial Officer).

"It's going to serve Norwalk Hospital very well to have a savvy financial leader. Healthcare needs great leaders, and I think Dan has great potential. Plus, he's just a great person. I'm excited for him," he says.

Prior to working at St. Mary's, DeBarba was Corporate Director of Financial Planning at Yale New Haven Health System. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

DeBarba replaces Geoffrey Cole, who resigned as Norwalk Hospital's president and CEO in late March. According to reports, Cole left due to personal illness.
