A snowplow hit a parked car Wednesday as the driver was working to clear Norwalk's streets. The plow was eastbound on Godfrey Street. The driver put the plow into reverse, but it fishtailed on the slippery roadway. It slid and damaged the rear driver's side of the vehicle at 12:25 p.m. at Godfrey and Davenport streets.
Hal Alvord, director of the Department of Public Works, said it was the only reported instance of a plow hitting a car. The city asks residents to move their vehicles from the streets during a snow emergency. Anyone in violation can be towed and many cars were towed.
Raul Jien of Rallye Tire and Auto Service said the company towed 34 cars during the storm, an unusually high number. He said the cars were on snow emergency routes and said it was a happy windfall for Rallye Tire.
