Family members of those who lost their lives in the attacks will join the ceremony, and the names of the 161 victims with ties to Connecticut will be read aloud.
The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m. The state’s memorial to the victims of the attacks is on a peninsula at the park.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will attend along with other dignitaries. The public is invited to attend.
The site at the park was also used as a staging area for Connecticut’s relief efforts to help New York City after the terror attacks.
A number of other area towns will also host memorial ceremonies, most on the 13th anniversary of the attcks on Thursday, Sept. 11. Here is a roundup of local events:
- A 9-11 ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Jackie Robinson Park in Stamford with Mayor David Martin expected to attend.
- The Stamford Professional Firefighters will hold a 9-11 ceremony at 7 p.m., Thursday, at 1620 Washington Blvd., Station 5.
- Wilton will hold a ceremony at 10 a.m., Thursday, in front of fire station.
- Greenwich is hosting its 9/11 memorial event at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Glenville Fire Station.
- The Fairfield Fire Department and Fairfield Police Department are honoring those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy in a ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Fire Headquarters, 140 Reef Road.
- The Darien Monuments and Ceremonies Commission will observe 9/11 at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, at the 9/11 Memorial located behind Middlesex Middle School, 204 Hollow Tree Ridge Road. Roses will be placed and a moment of silence will be observed at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center tower on Sept. 11, 2001.
- The city of Danbury will host a September 11 Memorial Remembrance Gathering at 6 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Park on Main Street, site of the city's 9/11 memorial.

Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling will be host the annual 9-11 remembrance ceremony Thursday at 8:30 a.m. outdoors in the front plaza of Norwalk City Hall. It will be moved to the Community Room in case inclement weather. The public is invited.

New Canaan will holds its Sept. 11 ceremony Thursday at 9:50 a.m. at the police station at 174 South St.
