Sandy Hook Students Safe After Evacuation Due To Bomb Threat

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe was evacuated Wednesday morning because of a bomb threat, according to NBC Connecticut.

The school was searched after the threat was called in at 9:39 a.m. and nothing was found, Monroe police told NBC.

The students were evacuated and taken to a neighboring school, NBC said.

Students from Sandy Hook School in Newtown have been attending classes in the former Chalk Hill School in Monroe since January 2013, weeks after a gunman killed 20 first-graders and six staff members during a rampage in their Newtown school building.
