FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Emergency road work on I-95 southbound along the corridor between Stamford and Bridgeport was causing massive traffic delays Tuesday morning and early afternoon.
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, lanes were closed for a portion of the morning commuting hours, which caused backups on I-95, the Merritt Parkway and the Post Road.
Traffic congestion choked portions of roadways in Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk, Darien and Stamford, which was compounded by regularly scheduled tree-trimming work and other road work along I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.
Delays of varying degrees were expected throughout Tuesday, DOT said.
