There were unconfirmed reports of two or three people in the plane and two or three people in one of the homes, National Transportation Safety Board investigator Robert Gretz said Friday night.
The private plane was attempting to land for the second time when it crashed in rainy conditions. The flight originated from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. The plane was identified as a Rockwell International Turbo Commander 690B.
The website for Social Venture Partners, a Seattle-based charity, put up this post, in part, about two of the victims on the plane:
"We are very sorry to inform the SVP family and our whole community that Bill Henningsgaard and his son, Maxwell Henningsgaard, were involved in a fatal airplane accident. Bill and Max were on a trip to the East Coast, where they were visiting colleges. The loss of Bill and Max is tragic."
Henningsgaard had "extraordinary and visionary leadership," the post said. "He worked tirelessly to build partnerships and facilitate efforts that put us on the path of engaging the community to actively support every child, step by step, from cradle to career. Bill walked the talk to make our community stronger."
It listed as survivors Bill’s wife and daughters and Max's mom and sisters, Susan Sullivan, Eleanor and Lucy. They are from Washington state.
