Regional Planners to Discuss Transportation

WESTON, Conn. – The South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet next Thursday, Sept. 22, to discuss transportation policy, programs and projects affecting the region.

In addition, the meeting will feature a photographic tour of the recently completed Norwalk Transit District Pulse Point and a briefing on the Route 7 Transportation Land Use Study.

There will also be a discussion of lessons learned from Hurricane Irene.

The agency is comprised of the chief elected officials of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton and the directors of the region's transit districts.

The meeting will be held at the offices of the Norwalk Transit District, 275 Wilson Ave., Norwalk, and will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. The agenda is available at http://www.swrpa.org/Default.aspx?About=123 one-week prior to the meeting.

As mandated by federal regulations, the regional planning agency is responsible for transportation policy development, planning, and programming of federal transportation funding for the region.

It meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at either the Norwalk Transit District or the South Western Regional Planning Agency. The public is invited to participate.
