For the next 14 months, until May 2011, the Department of Transportation will be working on the East Rocks Road bridge over the Merritt Parkway. The road will be closed to through traffic between Granite Drive and Ox Yoke Lane. Drivers will be routed onto Allen Road, Toilsome Avenue, Gruman Avenue or Bayne Street. If you live in that area, you'll be able to reach either side of East Rocks but won't be able to cross the bridge.
DOT is replacing the arched portion of the bridge and making other repairs, for a cost of nearly $4.8 million.
