Police are hunting for a hit-and-run motorist who left a Norwalk teenager critically injured on Taylor Avenue just after the start of the new year.
The 16-year-old girl was found unconscious at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday face-up in the snow in front of 100 Taylor Ave. She had been to a party on South Street with her sister. The pair had been unable to reach their mother and, at about midnight, decided to walk home. The victim was unhappy about having to walk and the pair argued. The victim slowed down and the space between them increased.
The victims sister was walking on the southbound side of Taylor Avenue and turned around to yell at her sister to speed up, but could not see her. So she turned around and walked back and looked for her. She went as far as Church Street and did not see her, so she crossed the street and walked up the north side of Taylor Avenue. Unable to find the victim, the sister thought she must have gotten a ride from a friend. When she got home she was surprised that she wasn't there.
Their mother went out to look for her missing daughter, and found Norwalk Police and paramedics tending to her as she lay on the snow. The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital and was listed in critical condition Saturday. She is still in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon, according to a woman who came to the door of her home.
Police say they found broken glass from a vehicles headlight near the victim. The victims cell phone was missing. Anyone with information can call (203) 854-3000 or fill out an online tip form.
