Osama bin Laden has been killed, President Obama announced Sunday night.
U.S. forces killed the al-Qaida leader in a firefight in Pakistan on Sunday, Obama said. He said U.S. intelligence had received a lead in August that bin Laden was hiding in a compound in Pakistan. The mission to capture bin Laden was launched Sunday on Obama's orders.
"On night like this one we can say to families who have lost loved ones to al-Qaida terror that justice has been done," Obama said in a nationally televised address late Sunday night.
