Occupy Wall Street Plans May Day 'General Strike'

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The Occupy Wall Street movement will celebrate May Day Tuesday with what it calls the first-ever general nationwide strike

"The Occupy Movement has called for 'A Day Without the 99%' on May 1st, 2012," the movement says on its website. "For the first time, workers, students, immigrants, and the unemployed from over 125 U.S. cities will stand together for economic justice."

Official events taking place closest to Fairfield County are in New Haven and New York City. In recent months, there have been Occupy Wall Street-related rallies at GE's Norwalk headquarters, at the home of GE chief executive Jeff Immelt in New Canaan and in Darien
