The initial forgery complaint was made in Norwalk in September 2022 when the woman's daughter discovered the illegal withdrawals from the victim's checking account, said Lt. Joe Dinho, of the Norwalk Police.
A lengthy and detailed investigation by Det. Scott Ribisl for larceny followed and found that Jennifer Hernandez, age 31, of Norwalk, had been employed as a caretaker for the victim for over 10 years when the withdrawals from her bank account were discovered, said Dinho.
Ribisl determined that Hernandez had made over 100 illegal payments to her own credit card accounts using the victim’s account without authorization, totaling over $58,000, he added.
An arrest warrant was granted and Hernandez was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 3 when she turned herself in to the Norwalk police.
Hernandez was held on a $100,000 bond with a court date scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17.
