Norwalk Teen With Knife Scares Mom

An argument between a Norwalk mother and her teenage son took a dark turn Friday night when he allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and walked out of their Coldspring Street home.

When police arrived, Ramsey Gomez, 17, was carrying a shovel handle, Sgt. James Walsh said. He violently resisted arrest and later spat in the face of a Norwalk Hospital emergency room doctor. Gomez was charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer, two counts of assault on a police officer, assault on emergency personnel and carrying a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $25,000.

His mother said she thought her son had sold his younger brother's video games to buy drugs. There allegedly had an argument about it Friday morning. The teen had come home intoxicated at about 11:30 p.m. with dried blood on his face. She said he had dropped the knife as he walked about outside. Officers say they found the knife on the lawn.

• Special Services officers on patrol Friday afternoon in South Norwalk spotted a familiar car with a familiar face in it. Terrance White, 21, of Ferris Street, had a 2010 warrant out for his arrest on a charge of possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana. Officers said they followed the vehicle from Burrit Avenue onto South Main Street, where it went north before pulling into a driveway.

White was arrested on the warrant without incident. He refused to let police check his vehicle. But Rainor, a canine officer, was taken to the scene and indicated drugs were present. A strong smell of marijuana was detected when officers opened the car door. The dog led officers to the trunk, where they say they found a clear Tupperware container that had 27 small blue bags of marijuana and three large bags of loose marijuana.

White was charged with illegal manufacture, dispensing and sale of drugs; conspiracy; possession of drugs within 1,500 feet of a school; and possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana. Bond was set at $10,000.

While being processed at headquarters, White said he had another small bag of marijuana in his long underwear. His car was towed to headquarters and seized as "ill-gotten gains."
