Norwalk Man Almost Run Down Over a Debt

A Stamford man tried Tuesday to run over a Norwalk man who owed him $40, Norwalk Police say. The Stamford man then got out of the car with a baseball bat and smashed the Norwalk man’s front door.

Francisco Colon, 20, of Stamford was charged with criminal mischief, threatening, carrying a dangerous weapon, reckless driving over 85 miles per hour and criminal attempt to commit assault. Bond was $10,000.

Police said the Norwalk man called 911 and when officers arrived they found Colon hiding behind a tree with the bat in his hand. Colon’s car was still on the bush and there were skid marks on the lawn, officers said. They said Colon admitted what he had done. "Yeah, he owes me money," Sgt. Lisa Cotto quoted Colon as saying. "He wouldn't pay, so I tried to run him over." He also admitted breaking the glass, police said.

Also on the police blotter:

A Stamford man was sending an email via his cell phone when he rear-ended another vehicle in Norwalk, police say. Andres Farfan, 29, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, using/holding a cell phone and following too close. Bond was $2,000.

The accident happened just on East Avenue at the I-95 exit 16 interchange. Both drivers were going south on East Avenue. Farfan was driving an older model Jeep, which rear-ended an older model Nissan. Police say Farfan was swaying from side to side and was unable to stand up straight.
