The intention was to convert the Nearwater Road peninsula into a bird sanctuary.
The land trust's board of directors decided it will reconvene later in the month to decide how to proceed with the property. The plan has met with opposition from some nearby neighbors.
Also, Kathy Siever, president of the Norwalk Land Trust, has submitted her resignation, The Hour reported. The board is scheduled to decide whether to accept the resignation at its next meeting. No date has been set for that meeting.
The Norwalk Land Trust preserves and protects open space in Norwalk. It acts as steward for 27 parcels of open space, owns 65 acres and holds 24 acres through conservation easement.
