Norwalk Kids Spring Into Action

Alexander and Andrew Miele have been asking their father everyday if they can go to the skate park at Calf Pasture Beach. Friday they finally got to do it. The Marvin Elementary School students enjoyed the late afternoon sunshine and unprecedented warmth – according to The Weather Channel, the temperature reached 76 degrees, a record breaker.

"It's such a break," said Frank Miele, the boys’ father. Others agreed. Calf Pasture Beach was crowded for the time of year. The Sounds Fun playground was busy, but one 4-year-old used the sidewalks to practice riding his bike. "First day after all the winter," his mother said, adding that he had told his teachers at L'il Critters preschool that he had to leave early to go to the beach.

Athletic fields throughout Norwalk were busy, too.

The winter's respite was short-lived, though. The Weather Channel predicts a Saturday and Sunday highs of 51 degrees. Rain is expected Monday.

The previous record high for March 18 was 63 degrees, set in 1963. The average high for March 18 is 49 degrees.

Did you get outside Friday? Or at least open your windows?
