Norwalk Jazzes It Up

Mayor Richard Moccia kicked off Jazz Appreciation Month with a reception at 22 Haviland Street Gallery last night. Hosted by the Norwalk Arts Commission, the evening featured a live performance by saxophonist Jim Clark and a proclamation from the mayor honoring Norwalk Public School music educators for their esteemed jazz programs. Jim Clark also took the opportunity to announce his jazz tribute "Saxology," coming up this September at Norwalk's Crystal Theater.

As they listened to the music, guests viewed the gallery's current exhibition of Bridgeport artist Thomas Mezzanotte's pinhole camera photographs.

"I told him a name like Mezzanotte, which is midnight in Italian, is better than mezza mort, which is half-dead," said the Mayor after thanking the artist for his involvement.
