Norwalk High to Get iPods for World Language Lab

At the last common council meeting, a routine purchase order for 84 iPods for the Norwalk High School World Language Lab was held up from a vote. Building and Land use chairman Fred Bondi scheduled a hands-on demonstration the following week to convince skeptical council members that the purchase had educational merit.

"Once people saw that students could speak into the iPod and hear how the spoken words sounded, the benefit became clear," Bondi said after the council meeting. Karen Delvechio, Director of Information Technology for the City of Norwalk, arranged the demonstration of how the iPods would be used for language instruction. Two students performed the demonstration.

In addition to the iPods, the Council authorized the purchase of HP desktops and Apple laptops, lab tables and chairs and two mobile carts.
