A man and his girlfriend were robbed Thursday night at the Main Avenue McDonald's after he recognized someone in the parking lot and went over to say hello, Norwalk Police reported. The acquaintance, who was sitting in a car with four other people, allegedly pulled a knife on him. The man resisted, and he and his girlfriend were beaten up, police said.
The car fled up Main Avenue toward Wilton. Norwalk Police were unable to find the car initially, but it was spotted two hours later at Main Avenue and Broad Street. Police arrested Terrance Austin, 22, of 91 Ferris Ave., Jennifer Cutler, 20, of Bridgeport, Jennifer Monahan, 31, of 40 West Ave., Marvin Noel, 23, of 46 June Ave., and Casual Ward, 23, of 5 Marlin Drive. Each was charged with robbery and conspiracy and held on $250,000 bond.
Police say Noel pulled the knife on the 24-year-old male victim. When the man refused to turn over his money, three men exited the car and began to kick and hit him, officers said. Two women got out of the car and took the girlfriend's pocketbook, according to police.
When police arrived, the victim told them who had done it. He thought they had left in a dark Dodge Charger. An officer spotted the car two hours later on Main Avenue and stopped it. Cutler was driving but her license was suspended. She was charged with driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a traffic control signal.
"We really we were very lucky that we found them two hours later," said Sgt. Lisa Cotto. "There was a lot of manpower involved. We were very lucky they were all in the car."
Police did not recover the knife.
