Norwalk Cops Bust Alleged Heroin Dealer

A convicted felon and his girlfriend tried to leave their apartment Friday but found themselves boxed in by unmarked police cruisers. The Norwalk Police Special Services Division was there to execute a warrant for the arrest of the alleged heroin dealer, after an undercover investigation.

Hopeton Devon Marsh, also known as "Hot" or "Hot Daddy," was charged with possession of narcotics and illegal distribution or sale of prescription or narcotic drugs. Marsh was arraigned Monday and held on $150,000 bond.

Police say undercover officers bought heroin from Marsh, 26, of 16 Phillips St., several times, beginning in mid-February, in South Norwalk. After stopping him on Phillips Street at about 2:15 p.m. Friday, they searched his apartment and found 111 glassine envelopes of heroin, with a street value of $2,200, $381 in cash, and two cell phones. The heroin and money were packaged in a way consistent with street sales.

Marsh was arrested in 2002 and charged with sale of narcotics and robbery. He was convicted on both accounts and sentenced to 12 years, with eight years served and five years of probation.

The investigation was completed with help from the Darien Police Department and the Fairfield Police Department.
