"Food for All," a benefit for Community Plate, featured some of the newest restaurants in the area, according to event organizers.

"Last year we were able to rescue and deliver over 1.5 million meals with the funds we raised at the event, and we are hoping to make an even larger dent in Fairfield County hunger this year," said Kevin Mullins, executive director and co-founder of Community Plates.

Organized said that over 400 people were in attendance, raising $70,000 for the organization.

"It was so energizing to see so many committed to ending senseless hunger in Fairfield County and a joy to celebrate our volunteers who are making that a reality," said Mullins.

Community Plates does its work in Fairfield County and New Haven as well as Columbus, Ohio; Albuquerque, N.M., and New Orleans.

"Tonight's event is all about bringing people together to talk about Community Plates," media communications volunteer Sara Thiel told Daily Voice. "All the new restaurants in the area are here featuring different things, and the public can come in and enjoy, and celebrate Community Plates."

The response from area restaurants has been very positive. "It's been amazing," she said. "In many cases it's just a matter of making a phone call to say, 'We have a lot of extra stuff here.' We call in volunteers, and they go right over to the location, because timing is so important. You're talking about food that can expire."

This year’s craft cocktail bars were presented by the mix masters of Harbor Point in Stamford, Paloma, Sign of the Whale, and Fortina. Corporate sponsors included Whole Foods, Northern Trust, Nestle Waters, Diageo, Go Nation, The Loading Dock and Uber.

Featured restaurants at Wednesday's event included:
