Metro-North Trains Running Late

UPDATE: As of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Metro-North was reporting good service on the New Haven Line and its branches.

ORIGINAL STORY: Metro-North Railroad reports New Haven Line trains are operating Tuesday morning schedules with delays of up to 20 to 30 minutes between New Haven and Stamford because of wire damage in the vicinity of Noroton Heights. Some train delays of up to 30 to 40 minutes are possible.

Because of the bad weather, platforms and staircases might be icy and slippery. The railroad advises riders to use handrails on staircases and be careful when boarding trains. Stay clear from platform edges.

An Amtrak train traveling from Springfield, Mass., to New Haven and Washington, D.C., hit a FedEx truck in Wallingford. No injuries were reported in the 7:22 a.m. crash, Amtrak said. The truck was stuck on the tracks, apparently because of the bad weather.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles has canceled all road tests scheduled for Tuesday.

Courthouses in Stamford and Norwalk have delayed their starts by 90 minutes Tuesday morning and will not be open until 10:30 a.m.
