Update 12:50 p.m.: Authorities in Massachusetts have concentrated on the Watertown area in their search for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Friday, and they are continuing the lock down order for the greater Boston region.
At a press conference in Watertown Friday, Gov. Deval Patrick urged residents in the area to remain inside a while longer, but neither the governor nor law enforcement officials indicated that Tsarnaev was pinned down in a specific house or building.
Authorities have searched about "60 percent" of the buildings in the Watertown, and they said there will be a controlled explosion in the area Friday afternoon, which may indicate that there may be other devices left behind.
Earlier on Friday, Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were identified as suspects in the bombing from surveillance and other photographs and videos. Tamerlan was killed during a shoot out with police, but Dzhokhar escaped.
Update 10:45 a.m.: Connecticut State Police said the car they were seeking has been located in Massachusetts.
Original story: NORWALK, Conn. -- The search for the second Boston bomber extended to Connecticut on Friday morning as state and local police stopped and searched an Amtrak train from Boston in Norwalk, while state troopers took up positions along roadways to be on the lookout for a car possibly occupied by a suspect.
It wasn’t yet known whether police found anything on the Amtrak train. It appeared they came up empty, but Metro-North said in a statement that trains on the New Haven Line would be delayed up to 45 minutes. Amtrak and Metro-North run on the same rails.
Connecticut State Police said they received information from the Boston investigation that a suspect vehicle could possibly be occupied by a wanted suspect. The car is a gray Honda CRV with Massachusetts registration plate 316ES9.
“Connecticut troopers are posted strategically in our State and continue to communicate with Massachusetts authorities,” state police said in a statement Friday morning.
New Haven Line trains traveling through the vicinity of South Norwalk were experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes due to the police activity, Metro-North announced on its website.
Metro-North said it will notify customers as soon as possible as more information becomes available. Train riders are advised to listen for announcements at the station, it said.
