Getaway trains for riders heading back to Fairfield County will begin departing Grand Central Terminal at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Due to reduced ridership, some evening trains may be canceled or combined.
A special holiday schedule will be in effect featuring hourly service on Christmas Day.
On the day after Christmas, Metro-North will run on a Saturday schedule, with additional morning and evening trains for shoppers.
On the week leading in to the New Year, trains will run on a regular weekday service with slightly reduced early morning service.
Metro-North will run on a weekday schedule on New Year's Eve with the following changes:
- Reduced a.m. peak and p.m. peak service, to match service and train crew resources with the reduced passenger demand;
- Additional inbound trains in the afternoon and early evening;
- Hourly service outbound after 8 p.m.; and
- Post-midnight outbound service between midnight and 5 a.m.
Train riders are reminded that alcohol is banned on all trains between noon on New Year's Eve and noon on New Year's Day.
A Saturday Schedule with additional morning inbound and afternoon outbound trains will be in effect on Jan. 2.
