Metro-North Riders Can Expect Crowds, Delays

Metro-North Railroad will operate Tuesday on a regular Saturday schedule as it works to get back on track from the weekend blizzard.

This schedule will offer significantly less service, and customers can expect crowded trains and delays. All three lines — New Haven, Hudson and Harlem — will be affected, as well as the New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branches.

For details on train times, check a current Oct. 17 timetable or view the train's online schedule. Customers should listen for station announcements, and use caution getting on and off of trains because of the snow and ice.

Train service had been suspended Monday morning because of the snow and winds. By Monday afternoon, Metro-North was operating on an hourly schedule.

For New Year's Eve on Friday, Metro-North will operate on an enhanced Saturday schedule with additional service inbound during the morning peak and outbound during the afternoon peak. Additional inbound trains will be added in the late afternoon/early evening. Metro-North will also provide its traditional post-midnight outbound service between midnight and 5:30 a.m. to bring you safely home. And for those of you heading back to the city, Metro-North also plans extra inbound train service after midnight. See a special New Year's weekend timetable or visit the railroad's online schedule for details.

New Year's Eve train tickets must be purchased in advance. Riders must have their train tickets before boarding the train at Grand Central Terminal or at the Harlem-125th Street Station.

On Saturday, Jan. 1, and Sunday, Jan. 2, Metro-North will operate on a regular Sunday schedule. See a special New Year's weekend timetable or visit the railroad's online schedule for details.
