NORWALK, Conn. Fairfield County residents who are upset about the imminent closing of Norwalk's Social Security office can speak their minds Thursday in a public hearing hosted by U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th District, and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.
The lawmakers will be joined by officials from the Social Security Administration, who will answer questions. The hearing is for 10 a.m. Thursday at Norwalk Senior Center, located at 11 Allen Road.
Himes and Blumenthal will be joined by Elaine C. Werner and Kathy Bass from the office of U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman; Roberto Medina, SSA regional communications director; and Steve Richardson, SSA deputy regional communications director.
The office is scheduled to close permanently Jan. 31. The nearest offices will then be in Stamford and Bridgeport.
