For Norwalks Mayor Richard Moccia, Monday can't come fast enough. In an interview at City Hall with The Daily Norwalk's Mark Joyella, the mayor expressed his gratitude to city police, firefighters, work crews and utility workers who have worked to restore power to thousands of Norwalk families. The mayor hopes life around town will return to the status quo by Monday when schools get back in session.
The city is also gathering information on the damages to help bolster its application for federal disaster relief funding. If granted, the relief package could offset some of the funds already used to clean up storm-related damages. It would also give Norwalk residents most affected by the storm the chance to obtain low-interest loans to cover their repairs.
