Man Approaches Child at Bus Stop

Norwalk Police are searching for an unidentified man who tried to convince an 11-year-old boy to get into his van this morning. The boy said the man stepped out of his van and approached him while he was waiting alone for the school bus at the corner of Scribner Avenue and Spicewood Road. He told the boy to get into the van, saying he would give him a ride to school. The middle schooler said he ran down Spicewood Road and hid until the man drove away.

The boy then traveled by school bus to Roton Middle School where he told school officials. Roton principal Joseph Vellucci alerted the Norwalk Police. Though they searched the area surrounding the school bus stop, the police found nothing.

The man is described as a tall, slim white male in his 20’s. His hair is cut in a Mohawk style and he has multiple piercings including on his nose, eyebrow, tongue, lip, chin and the entire length of one ear. The boy described the van as a white work van with no windows on the rear doors.

Norwalk Police have assigned extra patrols during the hours children are traveling to and from school and are asking anyone with information about the man or his vehicle to contact the police. The NPD Tipline is: 203-854-3111. Anonymous Internet tips can be sent via the police website.
