Dan Malloy is maintaining the lead hes held throughout the gubernatorial race over Republican Tom Foley, although the Stamford Democrats margin has shrunk slightly, according to the latest Quinnipiac University Poll.
Results, released Tuesday, show Malloy ahead by five percentage points. He is the choice among 48 percent of likely Connecticut voters, compared to 43 percent backing Foley. A previous poll, released Oct. 15, showed Malloy leading by seven percentage points, 49 to 42.
Seven percent of those polled said they were undecided. Eleven percent of the likely voters who named a preferred candidate said they could change their minds before Election Day.
Throughout the fall campaign Democrat Dan Malloys share of the vote has been between 45 and 50 percent, while Republican Tom Foleys has been stuck between 41 and 43 percent, said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz in a release.
He said the latest numbers indicate the states vote is solidifying and noted that there has been little statistical movement over the past two weeks.
The candidates have comparable favorability ratings among those surveyed. For Malloy, 47 percent say their opinion of him is favorable, while 34 percent say they hold him in an unfavorable light. For Foley, the numbers are 45 percent favorable, 33 percent unfavorable.
The polls margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points. The poll was conducted Oct. 18-24 among 702 likely Connecticut voters.
