Malloy Declared Victor in Gov Race

UPDATE: Republican candidate Tom Foley says he will contest the results. Details will be posted soon.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysciewicz has declared Dan Malloy the winner over Tom Foley in the Connecticut gubernatorial race. The results have not been certified, and she does not expect a recount, she said.

At a noon news conference, Bysciewicz said that Malloy won by approximately 3,100 votes.

"After a long night I am confident that when the Secretary of the State certifies the results of the election Nancy Wyman and I will be declared the winners, and that a recount will not be necessary," Malloy said a statement released Wednesday morning.

Foley was set to hold a 1 p.m. news conference in Stamford.
