Main Street Connect Welcomes New CEO

Main Street Connect, which publishes this community news site, welcomed Zohar Yardeni at its office in Armonk, N.Y. Yardeni succeeds MSC founder and publisher Carll Tucker as the company's chief executive officer. Tucker becomes chair of the Board of Directors. MSC now covers 52 communities in Westchester County, N.Y.; Fairfield County, Conn.; and central Massachusetts.

Employees gathered to hear Yardeni's plans for carrying on the company's mission of expanding quality local news and information. "I'm excited to take on the challenge of making Main Street Connect the dominant local news medium in the United States," he said. "And I'm thrilled to be working with such a dedicated group of people."

"We are pleased to welcome Zohar to the team at Main Street Connect," Tucker said. "His breadth of startup experience and web savvy will be a huge asset to the company, helping us to expand our reach." Tucker also announced that MSC closed a second round of funding of more than $7 million, after a first round of funding in the same amount.

A tech industry veteran, Yardeni comes to Main Street Connect from Thomson Reuters. As global head of product capabilities, he led a team working to reinvent a multibillion-dollar platform of financial applications and websites. Previously, he successfully launched two web startups: radius IM, a location-based instant messaging service, and CallStreet, an earnings call transcription service that was subsequently sold to FactSet Research Systems.

Yardeni received an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2001 and a bachelor's from Cornell University in 1995. His wife, Sarah, is a litigator at the law firm, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York City. The Yardenis have two young children.

Tucker founded Main Street Connect in December 2009. He's the former editor and publisher of Trader Publications, a community news company in Cross River, N.Y. Main Street Connect's first 10 sites opened in Fairfield in 2010. Since then, MSC has become a significant news presence in all the communities it covers.
