Two people were arrested Wednesday in separate incidents in Norwalk that date to the December holiday season, police said.
Felipe Campos, 30, of 20 Allview Ave., was charged with operating under the influence on Christmas. Norwalk police say Campos was the driver who was restrained by a young man on Summit Avenue after his legally parked pickup truck was hit by an SUV early Dec. 25.
The young man heard a loud bang at about 6 a.m. and looked out his window to see that the SUV Campos was driving allegedly had hit his truck. The SUV then hit another legally parked vehicle, according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto. The man went out to see whether Campos was injured, and Campos allegedly lunged at him. Campos smelled of alcohol and was hostile and violent, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle came out to help restrain Campos, who was taken to the hospital because he banged his head. Police applied for warrant to learn his blood alcohol content, which came back at 0.203, which is above the legal limit. Campos was arrested Thursday by Darien police and was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. Bond was set at $2,500.
Three days later, at about 7 p.m. Dec. 28, a man allegedly assaulted a woman who was seven months pregnant with his child at her Ely Avenue apartment. He had gone to the store with the woman, his ex-girlfriend, and her 14-month-old son to get sandwiches. On the way back, they allegedly began to argue. It escalated at the apartment when Joshua Jones, 20, of Stamford, allegedly became angry because the toddler took a bite from one of the sandwiches. He allegedly grabbed the sandwich from the child.
He then allegedly grabbed the mother from behind the neck. She broke the hold, and he spit in her face. Jones left. Police applied for a warrant. Stamford police picked him up Wednesday and charged him with assault of a victim under 3.
