Kids Invited To Apply for Easter Egg Roll

The White House has announced its annual Easter Egg Roll, and kids from around the country are invited to be a part of it. The event will take place April 25. Of course, even though the White House South Lawn is spacious, the president and first lady can’t accommodate everyone who might want to participate. So an online lottery system has been established.

On Thursday at 12:01 a.m. the lottery will open for entries. Anyone can apply. The lottery will close Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be notified shortly afterward. All of the tickets are free and cannot be transferred. Details can be found here.

The Easter Egg Roll is an event for youngsters age 12 and under and their families. This year’s theme is “Get Up and Go!” It is intended to promote health and wellness, and piggybacks on the First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” initiative to combat childhood obesity. In addition to the rolling of Easter Eggs, the event will feature storytelling, live music, cooking stations and sports courts.

So don’t forget to sign up for the lottery if you’d like to spend part of your Easter celebration at the White House. And if you’re among those chosen, don’t forget to let us know, so we can follow up on your visit.
