Storms and heavy rain will become increasingly likely Thursday afternoon as a system coming from the west interacts with a moist and unstable air mass over the region, the weather service said. This activity will continue into Friday and will bring rain, rain and more rain.

This storm setup is conducive to bands of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. Localized rainfall could be more than 2 inches per hour if storms remain over one area.

Heavy rains would cause urban and small stream flash flooding.

As for the weekend, the forecast calls for more wet weather. Showers, heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible through Sunday, according to weather service forecasts.
