Heavy Rains May Cause Flooding in Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Downpours expected to drench Fairfield County later Sunday could cause flooding along the coast and in urban areas with poor drainage, the National Weather Service says.

The storm could bring two to three inches of rain and high winds to Fairfield County communities dealing with drought conditions after a dry, warm winter. A flood watch is in effect through Monday morning, the Weather Service says.

The heaviest rain will fall Sunday night, the Weather Service says in a bulletin on its website.

"Hourly rainfall rates approaching an inch per hour in the heaviest rain bands remains possible," the bulletin says.
