Former Norwalk developer Richard Girouard was sentenced on Friday to 2 1/2 years in federal prison and a $15,000 fine. Girouard pled guilty in November to conspiracy to commit financial institution bribery. Prosecutors say between 2001 and 2007, Girouard participated in a scheme in connection with Fleet Bank that made Girouard and his companies about $6 million in illegal profits.
Former bank official Kevin OKeefe also pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Girouards former attorney, Paul Aparo, pled guilty to bribery and fraud and awaits sentencing. Girourds co-conspirator, Paul Mayotte, pled guilty last November to one count of conspiring to bribe a bank official. He was sentenced in March to six months home confinement, four years probation and $15,000 fine.
