STAMFORD, Conn. Funeral services for Navy SEAL Brian Bill have been scheduled for later this week in Stamford. The 31-year-old former city resident was killed in action Aug. 6 in Afghanistan.
Calling hours will take place Thursday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Saint Cecilia Church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Chief Petty Officer Bill graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in 1997. His friends and classmates have set up a memorial at the high school.
After graduating from Norwich University with a degree in electrical engineering Bill achieved his goal of becoming a Navy SEAL. He was decorated with three Bronze Stars with Valor, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons and three Good Conduct Medals.
He is survived by his father, Scott Bill; his mother, Patricia Parry and her husband, Dr. Michael Parry; his grandmother, Betty Hardiman; two brothers, Christian and Morgan Bill; four sisters, Amy Kutney and her husband, Chad, Andrea Sholes and her husband, Christopher, Kerry Welsh and Tessa Bill; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and two nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations to be made in Bills name to the Navy SEAL Foundation or to Norwich University for a scholarship to be named later.
