FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A Freeze Watch has been issued for coastal Fairfield County for late Sunday into Monday morning, the National Weather Service says on its website.
Below freezing temperatures are likely in some urban and coastal areas late, with temperatures in the upper 20 to low 30s, the weather service said. The warning is for midnight to 9 a.m. Monday.
The coldest temperatures in the metro New York area will occur along coastal Connecticut and in the pine barrens of Long Island, N.Y.
The cold temperatures could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and bring an end to the growing season.
