Cablevision and Fox's parent, News Corp., reached a deal in time to restore Channel 5 to the cable system in time for tonight's World Series game between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers.
No details were announced of the deal, which broke a two-week impasse that had left many Cablevision's customers without a way to watch baseball playoff games, NFL contests and popular shows such as "Glee" and "House."
The blackout affected customers in the New York area and in Philadelphia. Connecticut customers were able to watch Fox programming on the network's Hartford affiliate.
