Update, 8:45 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the coast of Fairfield County until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
That is a more severe forecast than it had issued earlier on Monday.
"Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water," the Weather Service says. "And take appropriate action to protect life and property."

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. High tide Monday night could cause minor to moderate flooding along the coast of Fairfield County, the National Weather Service says.
High tide will hit Stamford at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, and a "coastal flood advisory" is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday, the Weather Service says. There also is a chance of rain Monday night, particularly before 10 p.m. The temperature could dip into the high 40s.
The rest of the week should be cool, with daytime temperatures reaching the high 60s. Nights will be in the 50s. There also is chance of rain every day through Friday, the Weather Service says.
