Flash Flood Watch Issued For Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Fairfield County starting at 1 p.m. Sunday and ending Monday morning.

According to the service, there will be a large thunderstorm coming into the area in the afternoon that is expected to continue late into the evening. The report says the storms are expected to produce “torrential rains” and there is a possibility of 2 inches of rainfall per hour.

The service warns urban areas, areas with poor drainage and small streams may experience flash flooding.

The storm system is expected to move west to east and end Monday morning.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the weather alerts and, if flooding should occur in their area, to take precautions like keeping to high ground and staying out of the water flow.
