National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which corresponds with Police Week, honors local, state and Federal peace officers. It is observed annually.

“National Peace Officers Memorial Day is an opportunity to honor the service of our brave men and women in law enforcement,” Malloy said in a statement.

“We are deeply appreciative of the work law enforcement does—both to protect and give aid to the citizens of Connecticut, as well as to offer their expertise and talents in our communities. We honor the sacrifices made by these officers, and will always remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty.”

Flags should fly at half-staff until sunset.
