Fairfield County's Weekend Could Get Flaky

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – If you plan to be outdoors this weekend, you may want to wear a warm jacket. Colder temperatures – and possibly snowflakes – are headed to lower Fairfield County.

Peter Wichrowski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said cold air from Canada and a weather system to the south will bring precipitation on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to rise only into the upper 40s and low 50s on Friday and Saturday, he said. Highs this time of year are usually in the 60s.

Giving the snow outlook for Saturday, Wichrowski said, “There’s a possibility of a few snowflakes in the beginning and before it wraps up at night, but it wouldn’t during the day.”

Fairfield County could escape weekend rain or snow if the storm system veers to the east. “There’s a lot of possibilities of it passing offshore. If that happens, we wouldn’t see anything,” he said. “At this point, we’ll keep monitoring it.”
